NCAA Eligibility Center

If you plan on participating in college athletics, you must register with the Elgibility Center. Suggestions from the website:

Grade 11

  • Register with the eligibility center.
  • Make sure you are still on course to meet core-course requirements (verify you have the correct number of core courses and that the core courses are on your high school's 48-H with the eligibility center).
  • After your junior year, have your high school guidance counselor send a copy of your transcript. If you have attended any other high schools, make sure a transcript is sent to the eligibility center from each high school.
  • When taking the ACT or SAT, request test scores to be sent to the eligibility center (the code is "9999").
  • Begin your amateurism questionnaire.

Grade 12

  • When taking the ACT or SAT, request test scores to be sent to the eligibility center (the code is "9999").
  • Complete amateurism questionnaire and sign the final authorization signature online on or after April 1 if you are expecting to enroll in college in the fall semester. (If you are expecting to enroll for spring semester, sign the final authorization signature on or after October 1 of the year prior to enrollment.)
  • Have your high school guidance counselor send a final transcript with proof of graduation to the eligibility center.

ATHLETICS AT STANTON

The athletic program exists to encourage students to achieve their maximum potential and to represent their school. Athletes and cheerleaders not only represent themselves, but also the student body, the faculty, their families and the community at large. Participation in the program is a privilege. These activities are for students willing to work hard and make sacrifices. Every student is urged to get involved in the athletic program. Membership depends on the completion of a satisfactory medical examination, ability in the sport, and compliance with all the rules of eligibility. Physical forms, insurance waivers, parent permission and academic eligibility forms must be completed before a student is eligible to practice and participate in athletics.

All athletes and cheerleaders must comply with the eligibility rule set by the Florida High School Activities Association. For a student to play any sport, he/she must be enrolled in the school before the first day of practice, in addition to meeting the following requirements:

  • The first four and one/half weeks of the school year, students must have a grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 for the previous school year and have earned a minimum of five (5) credits.
  • For all other grading periods, a student must achieve a 2.0 GPA in the previous term and pass at least 3 of 4 courses at Stanton.
  • Student athletes must be in attendance half of the school day in order to participate in activities that day.
  • Students who use alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs, have behavior or attendance problems, are convicted of illegal activities, or violate other training rules as set down by their coach or sponsor will lose eligibility to participate. Varsity and Junior Varsity sports are offered to girls and boys in grades 9 - 12.

Students who plan to continue participation in athletics at the college level should consult their guidance counselor for information on course selections that will allow them to be eligible for the new NCAA registration and college entrance requirements. It is also highly recommended that student athletes sign up for the Test Prep Course to better prepare for the important tests needed for college admission.
